Overview
Event Manager is a complete event monitoring and alerting solution for the enterprise. It allows for the definition and creation of user-defined rules to monitor such things as:
- Operational and Production Events
- Plant Asset Performance
- Equipment Health
- IT Infrastructure
As a complimentary solution to Event Log, or as a standalone application, Event Manager provides the plant / process engineer with a temendous tool for monitoring a wide range of scenarios.
Building Rules in Event Manager entails three components:
- Collect and Aggregate Data
- Monitor and Evaluate Conditions
- Assess and Take Action
Like all modules in the Capuware Suite, Event Manager is built on standard Microsoft technologes for seamless integration with your existing infrastructure.
With Event Manager, I can monitor hundreds of points simultaneously, without scrolling through dozens of trend pages, allowing me to receive alerts for anything out of the ordinary.

Monitor and Evaluate Conditions
Expression Builder
The Expression Builder allows the user to enter a series of comparison rules to evaluate. Each rule is designed to return a TRUE or FALSE result, and several rules can be combined using AND and OR logic. The overall result determines the status of the Rule and whether or not Actions will be executed.
Standard Rule Operators
- <, >, <=, >=, =, !=
The rules can contain comparisons against numerical or string data, as well as against other Tags and/or Calculations.
Assess and Take Action
Event Manager can take multiple actions upon a TRUE status of the Rule. These actions are summarized below.
Create Entries
Requires Event Log
- Create Entires of any type
- Log Entries, Shift Orders, Rounds, Bulletins, etc
Toggle Rounds
Requires Event Log
- Toggle Rounds on/off based on Rule Status
- Single Round or group of Rounds
- Useful during plant outages to prevent Rounds from generating
Alerts
- Send Email or Text
- Customize content as desired
- Include Tag and/or Calculation values
Reports
- Send one or more Reports
- Customize format (PDF, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Specify parameters to tailor report content
Monitor Targets
- Monitor value of ant Tag or Calculation
- Create a Watchlist of values with color coding
- Updates in Realtime
